FPGAⁱ is an acronym for field programmable gate array. These devices are high-density, high-performance reconfigurable logic devices similar to CPLDs. FPGAⁱ devices contain general purpose logic gates which are tightly integrated with memory cells and allow for on-the-fly reconfiguration of custom circuitry.

The University of Kansas makes use of FPGAsⁱ in many of its courses. These devices allow students to rapidly and safely design custom circuits without the costs associated with fabricating a custom circuit.
